You're off to see the wizard, the wonderful "Wizard of Oz," and the Yellow Brick Road has never looked spiffier.
To mark the 70th anniversary of Dorothy, Toto and friends' musical journey to the Emerald City, NCM Fathom, Warner Home Video and Turner Classic Movies are screening the Oscar-winning 1939 film for the first time in high-definition on more than 440 movie screens on Sept. 23 at 7 p.m., including Farmingdale Multiplex Cinemas, Westbury Stadium 12, Port Washington Cinemas and Island 16 Cinema De Lux in Holtsville.
Preceding the movie will be a special filmed introduction by TCM host Robert Osborne. But don't click your heels and head on home once the movie ends or you'll miss some cool bonus features. The making-of documentary "We're Off to See the Wizard" features archival interviews with cast and crew members, behind-the-scenes footage and rare outtakes. Also on the bill: a clip of Ray Bolger as the Scarecrow dancing in HD.
