1950s pinup model Bettie Page dead at 85
Legendary pinup queen Bettie Page died of pneumonia at the age of 85 in a Los Angeles, California, hospital Thursday, a week after suffering a heart attack, according to her agent. "She captured the imagination of a generation of men and women with her free spirit and unabashed sensuality," said agent Mark Roesler in a written statement. "She is the embodiment of beauty." Page, said to be one of the most photographed people of the past century, became a recluse in recent decades. Yet, her images continued to be used around the world to market Bettie Page action figures, clothing lines and other merchandise.

Old Style Glamour: Brigitte Bardot
French sex siren Brigitte Bardot was known for two things back in the 60s; her fabulous bouffant hair and outselling pictures of the Eiffel Tower, when she was photographed in a corset for a postcard. In the 50s, Bardot was considered as too risque for Hollywood and as such her films were only allowed to be shown if they were clearly labelled as "European." Don't forget that this was the Doris Day era of film and Bardot's sexy look was not only frowned upon, but was almost considered indecent!

The most select club in Hollywood: The Hitchcock Blondes
It is perhaps the most select club in Hollywood: The Hitchcock Blondes. He cast the pale beauties almost exclusively from his first thriller, the silent "The Lodger" in 1927, and by his final film, "Family Plot," not quite 50 years later, the list had grown to include some of cinema's best. Grace Kelly and Ingrid Bergman. Janet Leigh and Julie Andrews. Doris Day and Joan Fontaine, Eva Marie Saint and Carole Lombard.
